Popular social (dating) app, Tinder would very shortly be found in more regions throughout India courtesy a Tinder Lite version that is reportedly set to become a reality soon. This means that even in emerging areas with significantly lower penetration of the internet (even in regions having limited 3G, 2G network connectivity), connectivity with the people you think you could love could be accomplished. The size of the application would also be smaller and potentially suitable for use within platforms like Google’s Android Go and probably KaiOS.
As per a TechCrunch report, that quotes an earnings call report by Match Group (that also operates Tinder), there could be a watered-down version of Tinder – apparently a Tinder Lite with the Southeast Asian having potential focus considering the fact that internet penetration in regions like India, and Sri Lanka being on an upward surge and with increasing user community as well.

Gauging the above report, it is also evident that Tinder Lite would be launched; but the exact timeline of this launch is unknown as of now. This could be effected in the near future.
Also, the Indian region has also witnessed the penetration of 4G feature phones viz Reliance Jio’s JioPhones which are popular in India and have seen multiple iterations. In competition, even brands like Nokia have their own 4G feature phones in the form of the Nokia 8110 “Banana Phone” that support essential applications like WhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook. Hence, it is not an exaggeration to state that Tinder could be amongst these “essential apps” whenever the Tinder Lite app comes into picture.

“This area has more than a dozen high-density cities with over a million people, and more young people are moving to large cities. These are really important factors that make the need for our app high,” stated Mandy Ginsberg – CEO at Match Group, quoted by TechCrunch.
“We are excited about the Tinder Lite app that will be coming soon. It’s a big step forward addressing the needs of consumers there.”
