YouTube rolls out new, fresh look for its homepage on desktop, tablet

YouTube rolled out a whole new, fresh look for the homepage on desktop and tablets. The Google-owned video-sharing platform said the redesigned homepage is rolling across desktops and YouTube apps on Android and iOS tablets. What we are talking about here are reasonably noticeable changes on the YouTube homepage. If you go to the YouTube homepage, you will notice longer video titles, in addition to larger video thumbnails.

Here's everything new with the YouTube homepage. 

In addition to longer video titles and bigger thumbnails, YouTube has added higher resolution previews right on the homepage. YouTube wants users to have even more information about each video at a glance. You will also notice a full-page grid of suggested videos as opposed to rows of suggested videos by category. YouTube gas added horizontal sections so that you can still find rows of videos for breaking news, music mixes, and more.

The new, updated YouTube homepage includes channel icons below each video. This way, you will see channel icons below each video to help users recognise their favourite YouTubers. The updated YouTube homepage also provides users with an option to customise what to watch next with their queue. All you need to do is select “add to queue” from the three-dot menu and select add to the queue.

"You’ve told us you want a better way to queue up the next video to watch, so we’re introducing the option to add to queue on desktop. You can select a handful of videos to watch next without interrupting the video you’re currently watching. Videos in your queue won't save after you've closed your browser, but you can always save videos to your permanent "Watch Later" playlist, too," YouTube said in its blog post.

You can also remove suggestions from channels you don’t want to watch. Tap the three-dot menu next to a video, then “Don’t recommend channel”. After that, you should no longer see video suggestions from that channel. YouTube is also working on a feature where you can select topics and the homepage will show videos accordingly. The feature was added to the YouTube Android app earlier this year. YouTube will be rolling it out on desktop and tablets devices soon.
