In what could be exciting news today, folks over at Samsung have taken the wraps off Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) in the Indian market. The phone starts at Rs 36,990 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and goes all the way up to Rs 39,990 for 8GB RAM variant. As expected, the key highlight of this phone is its quad-camera unit. Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) happens to be the world’s first smartphones to feature four cameras on the back. And if that wasn’t enough already, here’s everything that Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) has to offer:
This one features a 6.3-inch 1080p Infinity Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip ticking at 2.2GHz, 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage. It runs Android Oreo with Samsung’s Experience UI on top. On the software front, it offers pretty much everything that’s expected from a premium Samsung phone out there. Samsung Galaxy A9 goes on sale in India’s online and offline markets starting November 28.
But meanwhile, if you don’t wait that long or looking for some other options instead, we have mentioned below a few phones that we feel might give a tough competition to Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) in India:
OnePlus 6T
This may sound like an obvious alternative to the Galaxy A9 (2018) isn’t it? But that’s what it is and why it shouldn’t be? After all, it has pretty much everything that’s required to stand out in the premium segment? But more than anything else, this one has an edge over Samsung’s as far as the value for money proposition is concerned. Although the base model of OnePlus 6T with 6GB RAM costs Rs 1,000 more than Samsung’s, you get a more powerful Snapdragon 845 processor and the in-display fingerprint reader. On the software front, it runs OxygenOS based on Android Pie.
Huawei nova 3
Although both Huawei nova 3 and Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) flaunt a gradient back, we feel the overall design of Huawei nova 3 stands out better. And if you are selfie enthusiast, Huawei nova 3 has not one but whopping two 24MP + 16MP front-facing cameras for selfies and video calls, disguised themselves as a notch (only if you are notch fan)! As for performance, powering the handset is Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 970 processor that’s equivalent to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. Huawei nova 3 is priced at Rs 34,999.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
Nokia 8 Sirocco is yet another alternative to Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018). Similar to Samsung, this one too belongs to an established smartphone brand, if you are looking for a second option. However, there are many reasons why you might want to consider Nokia 8 Sirocco over Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018). First things first, Nokia 8 Sirocco phone falls under Google’s Android One program. So, if you are looking for a smartphone running the stock Android and the one that’s ensured timely software updates, you can consider buying Nokia 8 Sirocco. This phone is also powered by a more powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset. Nokia 8 Sirocco comes at the price of Rs 34,900 on Amazon.
Asus Zenfone 5Z
If the overall hardware performance is what you are looking for without spending much, you consider buying Asus Zenfone 5Z. This one too is powered by the mighty Snapdragon 845 SoC. And in case you have reservations about its software, it is promised Android Pie software mid-January next year. The top-end model of Asus Zenfone 5Z features 8GB of RAM and 256GB expandable storage. It costs Rs 31,999.
