The catastrophic 2015 earthquake in Nepal
According to the NSC, the earthquake was a result of the aftershock of the devastating 2015 earthquake. In 2015, the earthquake claimed lives of around 9,000 people and caused injuries to 22,000. Reconstruction post Earthquake
“The post-earthquake reconstruction is on the right track. The international community has praised our progress in reconstruction,” NRA head Sushil Gyewali said. However, the data released by NRA itself claimed that the reconstruction nowhere near completion. Only 50 per cent of the people who received grants for reconstruction were able to complete rebuilding. Frequent changes in the government and NRA leadership also affected the rebuilding process. As the recent earthquake has been termed as an aftershock, it can continue because of the magnitude of 2015 earthquake.
