4.7 magnitude earthquake jolts Nepal's Gorkha-Lamjung district border

An earthquake struck Nepal measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale around 6.49 pm (local time) and the epicentre was located at Gorkha-Lamjung district border

An earthquake struck Nepal on September 26, measuring 4.7 on Richter scale, said National Center for Seismology (NCS). earthquake occurred around 6.49 pm (local time) and epicentre was located at Gorkha-Lamjung district border. "We felt jolt and we rushed out of house. It was immense and we are still afraid to go inside our house," Puna Devi Dhakal, a resident of Lamjung district. immediate casualties or dam due to earthquake have been reported.

catastrophic 2015 earthquake in Nepal

According to NSC, earthquake was a result of aftershock of devastating 2015 earthquake. In 2015, earthquake claimed lives of around 9,000 people and caused injuries to 22,000. It destroyed over 6 lakh houses and damd almost 2 lakh houses. Some of vills in remote Himalayan area is yet to recover from dam. Nepal h set up a National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), months after catastrophic earthquake.

Reconstruction post Earthquake

“ post-earthquake reconstruction is on right track. international community has praised our progress in reconstruction,” NRA he Sushil Gyewali said. However, data released by NRA itself claimed that reconstruction where near completion. Only 50 per cent of people who received grants for reconstruction were able to complete rebuilding. Frequent changes in government and NRA leership also affected rebuilding process. As recent earthquake has been termed as an aftershock, it can continue because of magnitude of 2015 earthquake.

Earthquake in Pakistan and PoK

Recently, on September 24, Earthquake jolted Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) whose tremors were felt in several Indian States. epicentre of earthquake was near Mirpur city in PoK with a magnitude of 6.3 on Richter scale. earthquake claimed at least 30 lives with Mirpur city, a small town Jatlan and two vills Manda and Afzalpur, being worst hit. In se areas, huge cracks appeared on ro, trees were uprooted and houses collapsed.
