China: CDC issues new guidelines saying wearing face mask is not compulsory
China's Beijing became the first major city in the world to do away with wearing face masks while outdoors, according to media reports.

Beijing's Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in its new guidelines issued on Sunday said residents can w go outside without face coverings, signaling that coronavirus outbreak is under control in capital. According to reports, CDC has said even though wearing a face mask is t compulsory anymore, residents still need to follow social distancing rules and avoid physical contact with ors.

China faces criticism
China is facing a lot of criticism from international community over its initial handling of COVID-19 outbreak. On May 18, over 61 countries agreed to table a resolution in World Health Assembly demanding an impartial and independent probe into handling of outbreak and origin of disease. United States has time and again accused Communist state of t sharing full information on outbreak and has said that it posses evidence suggesting that virus emerged from a virology laboratory in Wuhan.

Chinese president Xi Jinping during his speech at World Health Assembly that commenced online defended Beijing's handling of outbreak and also urged international community to contribute more to World Health Organisation (WHO) funding. Xi Jinping defended WHO chief Tedros ham's response to pandemic and also pledged $2 billion to United Nations.
