China: Hubei's Coronavirus lockdown obstructs girl's cancer treatment

China's Lu Yuejin on Saturday struggled to get past the police checkpoint on the bridge over the Yangtze river as she wanted to get out amid the lockdown.

50-year-old Lu Yuejin on Saturday struggled to get past police checkpoint on bridge over Yangtze river as she wanted to get out of China's Hubei province, international media reported. Lu, whose 26-year-old daughter Hu Ping, who is reportedly suffering from leukaemia wanted to go out of province to get second round of chemorapy done in nearby Jiujiang province. According to media reports, Lu pleed with police to let her daughter go out of province as she needs to go to hospital in Jiujiang.

Tearfully pleed to be let through

International media reported that hospitals in Hubei's Wuhan city were overwhelmed by patients showing symptoms of Coronavirus. Lu, a farmer from a vill in Hubei province was trying to get a pass for her daughter who is in need of chemorapy.

According to reports, Lu tearfully pleed at checkpoint to let her daughter go past it as she needs to have her treatment. After hours of pleing, an ambulance was finally called in and both Lu and Hu were allowed to go through. Both Hu and Lu went through temperature checks before y were allowed to board ambulance.

Chinese authorities have imposed a strict quarantine in 12 cities across country, 11 of which are in Hubei province. As per US CDC, confirmed cases of virus have been reported in 27 or countries that include, Australia, Cana, France, Spain, India, Nepal, Russia, Singapore, and Italy.
