Ahe of opening, UN Chief Antonio Guterres warned that world could be plunged into a new and probably more dangerous Cold War unless United States and China repair ir “totally dysfunctional” relationship.
U.N. chief said in an interview to Associated Press that Washington and Beijing should be cooperating on climate crisis and negotiating on tre and techlogy, but “unfortunately, today we only have confrontation” including over human rights and geostrategic problems mainly in South China Sea.

Earlier, United States President Joe Biden during his dress at UNGA declared that he is t seeking a 'new Cold War'. Biden did t name China directly, but his statement comes amid rising tensions between two countries. US President also ded that country is t seeking a 'world divided into rigid blocs'. Moreover, he referred to Afghanistan and said that his decision to end America's longest war has set table for his ministration to shift U.S. attention to intensive diplomacy.
"We've ended 20 years of conflict in Afghanistan, Biden said. And as we close this period of relentless war, we're opening a new era of relentless diplomacy of using power of our development aid to invest in new ways of lifting people up around world," said Joe Biden.
