Coronavirus outbreak: China hopes ‘certain individuals’ in US heed rational calls

China said that the United States had reported only around 10 cases when it banned the entry of foreign nationals who had travelled to China within 14 days.

In a veiled criticism of US President Donald Trump and or officials, China on March 24 said that it is hoping “certain individuals” can heed rational calls and stop stigmatising China due to coronavirus outbreak. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson took to Twitter to remind first priority of United States during coronavirus pandemic. 

“For US, 1st priority at moment is to put its own house in order and join China & or countries in international anti-pandemic battle,” spokesperson tweeted.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that US h reported only around 10 cases when it banned entry of foreign nationals who h travelled to China within 14 days. Referring to surge in numbers of coronavirus cases in US, spokesperson questioned what ministration did in 50 days to contain virus.

Blame game

US and China have been blaming each or over pandemic and war of words has t died down. Earlier, Trump h criticised China saying world is paying a “very big price” for covering-up facts on coronavirus. During a press briefing along with members of White House Coronavirus Task Force, Trump said that if threats of virus would have been me public at an earlier st, virus could have been contained to area where it started.

White House National Security Council h also put out a tweet criticising Beijing and accused it of suppressing initial reports of coronavirus outbreak and its severity which caused Chinese and international experts to miss critical opportunities to prevent a pandemic.

US President has often called COVID-19 as “Chinese Virus” which World Health Organisation (WHO) has explicitly vised against it. However, Trump has w has called for protection of Asian American community after he was accused of fueling a backlash against m by using such terms.
