France 'stands firm' against racism, but won't 'wipe away' history: Prez Macron

While France's President had vowed to remain strong against racism and police brutality, he added that the country wouldn’t take down colonial-era statues.

Amidst global protest against racism and police brutality following George Floyd’s death in US, French President Emmanuel Macron has finally dressed issue in a live dress from Elysée Palace on Sunday. According to reports, while Macron claimed that France stood firm against racism, he insisted that country wouldn’t take down statues of controversial, colonial-era figures.

Macron vows 'Uncompromising' stance against racism

According to reports, during his dress Macron ackwledged that one’s dress, name and colour of  skin could reduce one's chances of getting ahe in French society. So, he called for a fight to ensure that everyone can “find ir place” in society regardless of ir ethnic origin. Macron also vowed to be ‘uncompromising’ in face of racism, antisemitism, and discrimination.

While standing firm against racism, Macron reportedly also ded that statues in France would t be taken down like y were being done in or countries. He said that Republic would t erase any part of its history since France’s colonial history is something to be embraced and t denied.
