The year 2023 was full of war and catastrophe. Amidst that, there were many prominent personalities that made an impact globally. Here are some of the important ones.

1. Elon Musk: Known as the wealthiest man on earth, Elon Musk is an American billionaire. He is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tesla and SpaceX, who is popular for his ambition to reach Mars and make space travel easier. In the year 2023, Elon Musk made history in the world of artificial intelligence or AI by launching his own company, xAI, to compete with the likes of Google (Bard) and OpenAI (ChatGPT). Elon Musk also continues to make news for his decisions at Twitter, including the name change to X once he took over.

2. King Charles III: Prince Charles acceded to the throne of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms after his mother Queen Elizabeth II passed away in 2022. The coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the UK and the other Commonwealth realms took place on Saturday, 6 May 2023, at Westminster Abbey in London. After he took over, King Charles promised to streamline the monarchy and cut costs.

3. Hunter Biden: The son of US President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden is an American attorney and businessman. Prosecutors accused Hunter Biden of making false statements to acquire firearms. The Republicans are reportedly using it as a tool to get the US President impeached from the White House.

4. Sam Altman: An American entrepreneur and investor, Sam Altman's biggest achievement of 2023 is the launch of ChatGPT for OpenAI.

5. Linda Yaccarino: She was appointed as the chief executive officer of X, formally known as Twitter, by Elon Musk. Linda previously held the position of chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal.

6.  Kim Ju-ae: The daughter of North Korean President Kim Jong Un, Kim Ju-ae has been gaining prominence at public events. South Korean authorities are now considering the possibility of her being the heir apparent. However, analysts say it is unlikely Ju-ae could succeed her father as North Korea’s leader, given the country’s male-dominated military structure.

7. Javier Milei: The President of Argentina made headlines for the wrong reasons. He was responsible for laying off 5,000 government employees hired in 2023.
