Iraq Health Official confirms first death from novel coronavirus
A health ministry spokesperson for Iraq Northern Kurdish Autonomous Region said that a Muslim cleric came in contact with the Iraqis who returned from Iran.

Iraq confirmed first death from vel coronavirus in country, total confirmed cases detected so far are 31 as per media reports. deceased was a 70-year-old man who was a religious preacher in rth-eastern city of Sulaimaniyah. He was quarantined after he tested positive to coronavirus and succumbed to worsening health conditions at a hospital early Wednesday, March 4.

He was isolated and was put under medical supervision, but he passed away suffering from dely disease.

Iran has to date recorded highest death toll from outbreak outside of mainland China and is one of high-risk countries for travel amid COVID-19 outbreak. Most cases of coronavirus that emerged in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Leban, United Arab Emirates, including one in Cana have all been linked with Iran which is w second focal point of global disease spre after China, suggest reports.

State of panic
Iraqis travel often to Iran crossing frontier for tre, tourism, medical treatment, and religious studies. Iraq, however, in a drastic measure, has shut its borders with Iran restricting entry of Iraqis and or foreign nationals from entering its territory confirmed reports. Several countries including neighbouring Turkey, have also sealed ir borders with Iran to stem contagion spre of ailment.
