Maldives has confirmed its first two cases of dely coronavirus outbreak on March 7 and placed two of its islands under effective quarantine, as authorities conducted furr tests to contain spre of disease. As per reports, two infected people are expected to have caught disease from an Italian tourist who h returned to Italy and tested positive re. tourism minister, Ali Waheed reportedly said that two cases that tested positive are from a resort and employees of resort are w quarantined.

Health authorities restricts travel

He ded that ecomy of country is mainly dependent on foreign tourists. Earlier, Maldives Health Protection ncy reportedly said that two French nationals who showed symptoms on a second island h been put under isolation. health authorities reportedly said that y h restricted travel to and from Kuredu Island Resort and Summer Island resort. It was t clear how many tourists were under lockdown on each of islands.

Malta confirms first case

Meanwhile, Health Minister of Malta, Chris Fearne has reportedly confirmed nation's first case of vel coronavirus on March 7. Fearne said that patient is a 12-year-old girl who arrived from Italy on March 3. minister ded that girl tested positive for virus on early Saturday and is receiving treatment in a state hospital. health minister reportedly said that patient is doing well. According to reports, she returned late last month from rrn Italian region of Trenti, passing through capital city of Italy, Rome with her parents and sister and reported symptoms on Friday. 

China has reported 28 new fatalities from dely coronavirus outbreak, taking death toll in country to 3,097. Chinese health officials said on Saturday as rapid spre of epidemic hit a milestone, infecting more than 100,000 people globally. virus that first emerged in China in December last year has spre to 97 countries and has infected 106,203 people, including 80,696 in China, according to Johns Hopkins Coronavirus tracker.
