Mohanlal on notice for elephant tusks possession: I'm being harassed
Mohanlal said that case against him for the possession of elephant tusks was a ploy to harass him after he was served a notice by the Kerala High Court.

After Kerala High Court sent a tice to Mohanlal over a petition to quash his permission for possession of elephant tusks, actor said that case was filled with ulterior motives and was a ploy to harass him and dam his reputation.

Mohanlal filed a counter-affidavit in High Court where he stated that chargesheet in case was done with an ulterior motive to harass him. veteran also said that re were several ‘false’ cases filed against him to dam his reputation.
In 2011, two pairs of elephant tusks were found at Mohanlal’s residence in Kochi in a raid by Income-Tax. Forest Department h n started legal proceedings. However, Drishyam actor h stated that he h bought tusks for Rs 65,000 from an individual. Later, principal chief conservator of forests h given Malayalam actor permission to own tusks, as per reports.

A person named AA Poulose, reportedly a former Forest Service official, h challenged this move of government. AA Poulose h highlighted irregularities in case and urged authorities to investigate matter. possession of ivory is prohibited, as per Wildlife Protection Act.
In September, Range Forest Officer, Kodan h filed a chargesheet against Mohanlal for possession of tusks without required permissions and without keeping Chief Wildlife Warden in loop.

Earlier this month, Perumbavoor Magistrate court h sent summons to Mohanlal and or accused persons in case. Moreover, Kerala government informed High Court in September that it h t greenlit decision of principal chief conservator of forests to issue a ownership certificate to Mohanlal.

However, Mohanlal stated that his possession of tusks was legal since he h obtained ownership certificate from Chief Wildlife Warden in 2016.
