New Zealand PM says many restrictions to remain in place after lockdown ends

New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern signalled that significant restrictions will remain in place even after the country eases nationwide lockdown enforced in March.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern signalled that significant restrictions will remain in place even after  country eases nationwide lockdown enforced in March to contain coronavirus. Anuncing Alert Level 3, Ardern said that many of Level 4 restrictions will remain in place while permitting aspects of ecomy to reopen in a safe way.

“re are promising signs our go hard and go early elimination strategy is working and lockdown is breaking chain of community transmission. Any move to Level 3 cant put those gains at risk,” said New Zealand PM in a statement.

Ardern said that Level 3 is, by design, a progression and t a rush to rmality which carries many of restrictions in place at Level 4. She ded that protecting health of New Zealanders is primary focus of government but it also needs to position ecomy for recovery. 

“Importantly test for a business opening at Level 3 moves to it being safe, rar than being essential,” said Ardern.
