Palestine, Turkey, Uzbekistan issue stamps to honour Mahatma Gandhi

Palestine, Turkey and Uzbekistan issued stamps to honor Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary. All three countries also praised Gandhi and his contributions.

On occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Palestine, Turkey, and Uzbekistan released a commemorative post stamp on Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. Houring his “legacy and values”, Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Minister of Telecommunication and Information Techlogy Ishaaq Seder released stamp in presence of Representative of India in PA Sunil Kumar at a ceremony held at ministry in Ramallah, Israel. move comes to mark 150 birth anniversary of world leer. Over a year, Indian Mission in Ramallah has conducted several events to commemorate birth anniversary of Gandhi which has drawn a huge response from all sections of Palestinian society, especially youth.

“Palestine’s issuance of commemorative stamp comes in hor of Gandhi’s memory, legacy, and values that guided and shall continue to guide humanity," said Seder, underlining Mahatma’s principles of nviolence, values, wisdom, and vision.

Palestine's hor to Gandhi

Speaking on Palestine's gesture for Gandhi, Sunil Kumar said that country's hom to Gandhi shows strong historical, political and cultural relations that India and Palestine share. Representative of India also talked about Gandhi’s significant contribution to human development, stressing that his teachings of peace, freedom, respect, and tolerance are still felt around world. Earlier in June, Goverr of city, Jeh Abu al-Asal, said Gandhi is a “real source of inspiration” for Palestinian society. He ded that Gandhi's messs “will continue to inspire millions of human beings” around world at a cycling event organized in historic city of Jericho.

Uzbekistan, Turkey also issue commemorative stamps

As per an Indian media publication, Uzbekistan’s ministry of information techlogy and communications and postal department has also issued a commemorative Gandhi stamp as a joint initiative. post stamp has been published in form of a postal block, re Press te of department. report furr mentioned that stamp is 52x37 mm in size and bears im of Gandhi with backdrop of historic Indian monuments which was designed by Sulaimova U and im was sketched by Farmova S. Similarly, Turkish postal department has also released a postal stamp on Gandhi. press release of postal department of Turkey praised Gandhi saying that he pioneered independence of Indian subcontinent, dedicated his life to ericating racism and discrimination, reducing poverty, making everyone equal and free.
