Peru: Two McDonald's employees killed, manager blames faulty machines

Two employees of McDonald’s were electrocuted last Sunday in Pueblo Libre, Peru. The manager of the store attributed the deaths to a faulty beverage machine

After two McDonald’s employees were electrocuted last Sunday in Pueblo Libre,+ general manr of fast-food franchise in Peru informed media that employees died because of a faulty bever machine. He ded that machine h earlier experienced electrical faults but was t reported to company’s maintenance department.

Ongoing protests

According to police, two employees Alexandra Porras, 18, and Carlos Gabriel Campo, 19, were killed while cleaning kitchen.

José Andre, general manr of Arcos Doros told local media on Friday night that unfortunately, information that machine wasn’t working properly and giving people shocks was only kwn to local manrs and was t escalated, refore, immediate action h been taken. 

Arcos Doros mans all McDonald’s restaurants in Sourn American nation.

Relatives of two employees who were killed, along with 80 ors, started a protest against fast-food chain on Saturday afteron. protestors carried posters bearing photographs of victims and slogans that re, “Justice for Alexa and Gabriel.”

Rocío Zapata, Gabriel’s mor, claimed that restaurant did t offer proper training to its employees. She asked who is going to give back ir children.

Elizabeth Carmona, a lawyer acting for victims said that she has asked for prosecution of McDonald’s and Arcos Doros representatives in Peru. She furr said that substantial evidence verified by criminal experts has determined that a power leak caused deaths.

Arcos Doros which owns and operates restaurant chain throughout Latin America said that it h shut all 29 outlets for safety inspections. ding to that, José Andre said that incident h hit m all very hard and y are working hard to review all processes and protocols to ensure such a thing does t happen again.
