Police disperse workers rallying in Peru

At least 30 protesters were detained in Lima on Tuesday as workers were preparing to rally to demand economic assistance during the pandemic.

At least 30 protesters were detained in Lima on Tuesday as workers were preparing to rally to demand ecomic assistance during pandemic.

National Police used tear gas to disperse crowds that were heing to Plaza Dos de Mayo.

Geronimo Lopez, Secretary-General of General Confederation of Workers of Peru, said 30 people were detained.

He said hundreds of people have been let go from ir jobs due to pandemic and quarantine measures and don't have a way to support mselves or ir families.

Peru has been under a national emergency quarantine for months.
