Putin attends events marking 'Great Patriotic War

Russian President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the tomb of an unknown soldier in Moscow on the 75th anniversary of the Nazi invasion into Soviet Russia.
Earlier on Monday, along with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church and Defense Minister, President Putin visited a new church of Russian Armed Forces located outside of the Russian capital.

Addressing the troops on the square in front of the cathedral, he said that Russia's victory over Nazi Germany in World War 2 was "absolutely sacred.:More than 27 million Soviet citizens died in what is known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.
