Preliminary results from two early-phase n-randomised trials of Russian vaccine candidate, Sputnik V, showed major side effects over 42 days and induce antibody responses within 21 days, said study published in Lancet. leing peer-reviewed medical journal said that doctors conducted trials for two-part vaccine which contains a recombinant evirus 26 (r26) vector and a recombinant evirus 5 (r5) vector.
primary outcome measures for trials were safety and immugenicity of potential COVID-19 vaccine and secondary outcome measures were antigen-specific cellular immunity, also kwn as T-cell responses, and change in neutralising antibodies. researchers performed two open, n-randomised phase 1/2 studies at two hospitals in Russia and enrolled healthy ult volunteers d 18–60 years to both studies.

“ two 42-day trials – including 38 healthy ults each – did t find any serious verse effects among participants, and confirmed that vaccine candidates elicit an antibody response,” study’s authors wrote.

Secondary outcomes from trial suggested that vaccines also produce a T cell and neutralising antibody response within 28 days. However, authors stressed that large, long-term trials including a placebo comparison and furr monitoring, are needed to establish long-term safety and effectiveness of vaccine for preventing COVID-19 infection.

World’s first clinically approved COVID-19 vaccine
world’s first clinically approved vaccine against vel coronavirus has been manufactured by Gamaleya Research Institute in collaboration with Russian Health Ministry. Last month, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko told meeting that it is one of first registered vaccines in world to prove its effectiveness and safety.
United States has been sceptical over Russian vaccine and US Health Secretary Alex Azar told a news conference that it is more essential to have a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine than acing race. Murashko said that foreign colleagues are sensing specific competitive vants of Russian drug and are trying to express “groundless” doubts.
