UK minister dismisses Spain criticism of quarantine
A UK government minister on Tuesday dismissed criticism from Spain about the quarantine imposed on returning travellers after a spike in the number of coronavirus cases in that country.

A UK government minister on Tuesday dismissed criticism from Spain about the quarantine imposed on returning travellers after a spike in the number of coronavirus cases in that country.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has described the UK's decision to impose a 14-day quarantine on people returning from Spain as an "error" and "disproportionate".

But the UK's local government minister Simon Clarke insisted London had the right "to look after our citizens and to minimise the risk to the UK".
Speaking to British broadcaster Sky News, Clarke said the government decided to reimpose the quarantine in good faith and acted on advice from the Joint Biosecurity Centre.

Spain is traditionally the most popular summer holiday destination for British vacationers, with the islands particularly reliant on their tourism.
