Biden claims US security agencies incurred 'enormous damage' during Trump administration
Biden’s comments followed a briefing from members of his national security and foreign policy agency review teams on their findings and key challenges.

US President-elect Joe Biden on December 29 said that ncies critical to country’s security have suffered “ermous dam” at hands of outgoing Trump ministration. While speaking at a press briefing, Biden painted a grim picture of state of US national security and foreign policy ncies.
Biden said ncies have been “hollowing out in personnel, capacity and in morale” and ded that his team was t getting information it needed, including from Department of Defence, as it makes its transition to power.

Biden said, “Most table Department of Defence, we encountered obstruction from political leership. truth is, many of ncies that are critical to our security have incurred ermous dam.” He ded that actions of Trump ministration “makes it harder for our government to protect American people, to defend our vital interests”.

Need for ‘clear picture’
Biden’s comments followed a briefing from members of his national security and foreign policy ncy review teams on ir findings and key challenges that incoming ministration will inherit. During his briefing, President-elect said that his team was facing “roblocks” in Department of Defence and Office of Manment and Budget.
Biden also ded that it is crucial to ensure “thing is lost” during change in presidential ministrations and stressed need for his team to have a “clear picture” to avoid any “window of confusion” that can be exploited by enemies.

“Right w, we just aren't getting all information that we need from outgoing ministration in key national security areas. It is thing short, in my view, of irresponsibility,” said Biden.
Meanwhile, briefings between transition team and Department of Defence have paused for holidays and will resume in early January. Biden takes office on January 20 even though Trump has refused to accept defeat in vember’s election. US President-elect has also been vocal about numerous challenges his ministration will face once he assumes office, chief among m reversing ecomic devastation brought by coronavirus pandemic and mitigating spre of virus. Moreover, Democratic leer will also be tasked with responding to massive cyberattack that hit numerous government ncies, including Departments of Energy, State, and Treasury.
