Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke to reporters at the state's newest coronavirus testing site in West Palm Beach, his second appearance Monday after announcing the birth of his third child that morning.

DeSantis said he was concerned about people traveling into Florida from the New York tri-state area.

"To have the virus airlifted in from all around the world or the country, you know, that's a big problem," he said.

The drive-thru site at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches will open Tuesday. It will be southeast Florida's fourth major testing location.

DeSantis said he had hoped to be watching spring training at the ballpark this month instead.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
