Iran would return to nuclear deal within an hour of US joining pact: Rouhani
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said his country would start complying with the 2015 nuclear deal arrangements within an hour of the US rejoining the pact.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said his country would start complying with 2015 nuclear deal arrangements within an hour of United States rejoining pact. According to Guardian, Rouhani ded that Iran would t accept any changes to deal and will continue its ballistic missile programme. Rouhani's remarks came a day before meeting between Iran and European signatories of deal and on same day as US electoral college members cast ir votes to cement incoming President Joe Biden's win.

Joe Biden has vowed to return to Obama-era nuclear deal as soon as he resumes power. deal, signed in 2015 between Iran and or major world powers, including United States, France, Britain, China, Russia, and Germany (P5+1), saw Washington lifting ecomic sanctions against Tehran and in return, Islamic Republic agreed to bring down its uranium enrichment programme. However, Donald Trump withdrew US from pact in 2018, calling structure of deal "decaying" and "rotten", despite European members objecting to move.

Joe Biden, during his election campaign, h promised that one of first things he would do after assuming presidency is to rejoin nuclear deal. Iran is also very hopeful of US rejoining Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as sanctions that were reimposed by Trump ministration following withdrawal is crippling country's ecomy. But at same time, Tehran is being cautious alrey indicating that it is t willing to go back to negotiating table and rediscuss terms of deal.

Meanwhile, United States on Monday imposed sanctions on two Iranian intelligence officials over ir alleged role in abduction of retired FBI officer Robert A. Levinson, who disappeared from Iran’s Kish Island on or about March 9, 2007. "Mohamm Baseri and Ahm Khazai, acting in ir capacity as MOIS officers, were involved in abduction, detention, and probable death of Mr. Levinson," US State Department said in a statement.
