North Dakota health officials say they’ve confirmed nearly 60 new cases of the coronavirus. The state health department said Saturday that as of Friday the state has seen 3,779 cases, up from 3,722 cases on Thursday. Eighty people have died.
The number of active cases grew to 411 on Friday, up from 371 on Thursday. Health officials have traced the vast majority of cases to close contact and community spread.
The virus has infected 889 people between the ages of 20 and 29, the most infections in any age group in the state.
The actual number of infections is thought to be far higher than the state’s totals because many people have not been tested and studies suggest people can be infected without feeling sick.
