As significant cyberattacks have continued to attack federal ncies in America for several months, outgoing US President Donald Trump has chosen to remain silent on possible breach that poses 'grave risk' to governmnet. As per CNN report, when Trump convened his Cabinet at White House on December 16, hes of ncies subjected to intrusion were t present including Department of Defense, State Department, Justice Department. Moreover, even after meeting, US President did t say anything about cyberattack that went undetected by intelligence ncies for several months. 

Recently, FBI called cyberattacks “a developing situation”. In a joint statement, FBI, CISA and ODNI said on December 16  that y are putting toger a unified response to breaches while understanding its effect on networks within ncies. In a statement, late Wednesday (local time), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security ncy (CISA) and Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said that y have formed a Cyber Unified Coordination Group (UCG)  to coordinate response of entire government.

While attacks were revealed in closing days of Trump ministration, data breach reportedly amounts to a dramatic coda for a presidency clouded by doubts of Russian defence and failed attempts to rectify relations with Vlimir Putin. Trump, who has me baseless claim of ‘election fraud’ his primary focus despite alarming situation of COVID-19, has chosen to remain silent on cyberattacks reportedly appearing to abdicate responsibility in final weeks in White House. However, reprisals of hacks might fall on President-elect Joe Biden.

FBI: Investigation on cyberattacks is ongoing

Meanwhile, federal ncies also said that FBI is investigating cyberattacks along with garing intelligence surrounding same. As per statement, FBI is currently engaging with both kwn as well as suspected victims of attacks to take more actions. joint statement came after a US media reported on December 13 that US Department of Homeland Security was third federal department to face a significant cyberattack.

“This is a developing situation, and while we continue to work to understand full extent of this campaign, we kw this compromise has affected networks within federal government,” statement said before ding, “As le for threat response, FBI is investigating and garing intelligence in order to attribute, pursue, and disrupt responsible threat actors."
