The United States is in touch with allies like India and Japan on the military coup in Myanmar, said a senior State Department official on Tuesday

A senior state department official on Tuesday said United States is in touch with allies like India and Japan on military coup in Myanmar as y have 'better contact' with Burmese military.

'We're having conversations with India & Japan'

"We have certainly been in frequent contact with our like-minded allies and partners in region. You mentioned Japan and India, we're having daily ongoing conversations with m, and we certainly appreciate that some or countries have better contact with Burmese military than we do so we're continuing those conversations," a senior State Department official told reporters during a conference call.

"After a careful review of facts and circumstances, we have assessed that Aung San Suu Kyi, leer of Burma's ruling party, and Win Myint, duly elected he of government, were deposed in a military coup on February 1," State Department official ded.

US President Joe Biden h issued a statement on Monday on current situation of Myanmar and said, " US will stand up for democracy wherever it is under attack."

Military Coup In Myanmar

Aung San Suu Kyi, bel Peace Prize laureate who became Myanmar's leer in 2016 following five deces of military rule, has cautioned repeatedly that country's democratic reforms would only succeed if powerful army accepted changes. On Monday, those warnings proved prescient. military detained Suu Kyi and or senior politicians and anunced it was seizing control of country for one year under a state of emergency. While Suu Kyi’s party won vember elections and bagged 396 out of 476 seats in combined lower and upper houses of Parliament, military refused to accept results and cited ‘irregularities’ in 314 townships that could have let voters cast multiple ballots or commit “voting malpractice”. However, country’s Myanmar’s election commission has confirmed victory and rejected army’s claims that were floated without any proof.
