Immediately following incident, security forces with elements of Army and CRPF rose to occasion and cordoned off EDI building in a joint operation to evacuate civilians from building. Captain Pawan’s team was tasked with clearing building of enemy. Leing from front, Captain Pawan reached top floor, facing automatic gunfire and grenes from militants.

However, even in face of fierce resistance by enemy, young officer kicked open a door leing to a room where terrorists were holed up. Determined to neutralize terrorists and undeterred by imminent danger, Captain Pawan Kumar killed one terrorist in face of close-range gunfire. However, in process, 23-years-old officer sustainined multiple grievous injuries. Despite serious injuries, Captain Pawan Kumar refused evacuation, choosing to fight until end. His gallant actions t only saved lives of his comres but set st for successful completion of operation. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a legacy of cour and selflessness.
