Born on January 15, 1993, in Bhana vill, Jind district, Haryana, Captain Pawan Kumar's journey embodies spirit of a dedicated soldier. only son of Shri Rajbir Singh and Smt Kamlesh, Captain Pawan Kumar was destined for a life of service to nation. 

Captain Pawan Kumar was born on Indian Army Day, January 15. He nurtured dream of joining Armed Forces from a young . His journey began at National Defence Acemy (NDA), where he gruated from 123rd course, paving his way to join prestigious Dogra Regiment. 

Transition to elite forces - 10 Para (SF) 

Captain Pawan Kumar's unyielding love for venture and a deep-seated commitment to serve led him to volunteer for elite Para Commando forces. Joining esteemed 10 Para (SF) battalion, kwn as "Desert Scorpions," he embraced rigorous training that forged soldiers of unparalleled physical and mental toughness. Wearing maroon beret and revered "Balidan" bge, Captain Pawan Kumar embodied spirit of elite force.

defining moment in Captain Pawan Kumar's military career unfolded during Pampore operation on February 20, 2016. In response to a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist attack on a CRPF convoy, Captain Pawan found himself in midst of a fierce gun battle at government-run Entrepreneurship Development Institute. objective was clear – evacuate civilians to safety. 

development came when 4 heavily armed LeT terrorists armed with AK-47 rifles, hand grenes and explosives struck a CRPF convoy on main ro linking Srinagar to Jammu. attack led to killing of two policemen and a civilian. terrorists n took refuge in government-run multi-storey Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pampore.  

Pampore operation: February 20, 2016 

Immediately following incident, security forces with elements of Army and CRPF rose to occasion and cordoned off EDI building in a joint operation to evacuate civilians from building. Captain Pawan’s team was tasked with clearing building of enemy. Leing from front, Captain Pawan reached top floor, facing automatic gunfire and grenes from militants.

However, even in face of fierce resistance by enemy, young officer kicked open a door leing to a room where terrorists were holed up. Determined to neutralize terrorists and undeterred by imminent danger, Captain Pawan Kumar killed one terrorist in face of close-range gunfire. However, in process, 23-years-old officer sustainined multiple grievous injuries. Despite serious injuries, Captain Pawan Kumar refused evacuation, choosing to fight until end. His gallant actions t only saved lives of his comres but set st for successful completion of operation. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a legacy of cour and selflessness. 

Shaurya Chakra for Captain Pawan Kumar 

In recognition of his exceptional cour, fighting spirit, and supreme sacrifice, Captain Pawan Kumar was posthumously awarded "Shaurya Chakra" on August 15, 2016. Captain Pawan Kumar's far, Rajbir Singh, upon learning of his son's death, expressed profound pride, stating, "I h one child, I gave him to Army, to nation. far can be prouder." nation mourned loss of a dedicated soldier who, at tender of 23, demonstrated valor beyond measure.
