Abrogation of Article 370 right step for Ladakh: Amit Shah
Amit Shah said the government is committed to bring all round development to the new Union Territory of Ladakh and abrogation of Article 370 was the right step.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said Narendra Modi government is committed to bring all round development to newly created Union Territory of Lakh and abrogation of Article 370 was right step in this direction. Home Minister said new hydro electric and solar power projects planned for Lakh at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore will produce 7,500 MW power and will be completed in next four years.

Shah me comments as he launched, through video conference, a special winter-gre diesel for high altitude region which faces sub-zero temperatures during winter months.
" NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to bring Leh-Lakh region, which was neglected for last 70 years, at par with rest of country," he said.

Home Minister said that when abrogation of Article 370 was anunced, Prime Minister h said it was a right step to accelerate development in Jammu and Kashmir and Lakh. Article 370 gave special status to erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. On August 5, Home Minister h anunced abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs - Jammu and Kashmir, and Lakh, which came into existence on October 31. Shah said by bringing change in status of Lakh and enhancing budget allocation, all-round development of region has been ensured.
He said newly introduced provisions of local taxation will augment Lakh's financial resources. Referring to a series of developmental measures taken by Modi government in last five years including Srinagar-Leh transmission line for electricity, 14 solar projects for Leh and Kargil, Lakh University, five new tourist circuits and tracks for tourists and mountaineers, Shah said people of Lakh, Leh and Kargil w enjoy same rights and will be equal partners in country's development. He said hydro and solar power projects to be completed in next four years will t only bring development in Lakh region but will also create employment opportunities.

winter-gre diesel launched by Shah has been produced by Panipat Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for first time. It has a pour point of minus 33 degree celsius and does t lose its fluidity even in region's extreme winter wear unlike rmal gre diesel which becomes exceedingly difficult to use in sub-zero temperatures. Home Minister said winter-gre diesel will t only smoon travel and transportation during peak tourist season in extreme cold, but will also help in giving a boost to tourism and supply needs of region's people, helping in overall ecomic growth. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Prhan, Member of Parliament from Lakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and or senior officials of Home Ministry and Petroleum Ministry were present on occasion.

Tour and Taxi operators and some common people of Lakh joined event through video conference from Leh. y thanked Home Minister for introducing new version of diesel that will benefit region. Motorists in high-altitude areas like Lakh, Kargil, Kaza and Keylong face problem of freezing of diesel in ir vehicles when winter temperatures drop to as low as minus 30 degree celsius, an official said. After being apprised of difficulties in this regard, IOCL has come up with an invative solution to this problem by introducing a special winter-gre diesel which does t lose its fluidity even in extreme winter conditions. This winter-gre diesel also meets BIS specification of BS-VI gre and was successfully produced and certified for first time by Panipat Refinery on vember 8.
