Delhi: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari defends Shekhawat over water quality remark
Tiwari stated that he will send a report to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to apprise him about the actual condition of water in the national capital

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Manoj Tiwari on Sunday defended the Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on his statement of "Delhi's water quality is better than European standards." According to Tiwari, his statement was based on what Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had apprised him. Further, Tiwari stated that he will send a report to the Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to apprise him about the actual condition of water in the national capital. The report will suggest a shortfall in samples which proves that the drinking water in Delhi is not fit for drinking, he added.
Hitting out at CM Arvind Kejriwal
According to reports, the BJP leader stated that Delhi's water is provided under the chairmanship of Arvind Kejriwal. Hitting out at Delhi Chief Minister and the Chairman of Delhi Jal Board Arvind Kejriwal, he questioned that why is Kejriwal disseminating diseases in the name of providing water. Tiwari also mentioned that their aim is to provide clean drinking water in every tap of the national capital by 2024 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's 'Delhi drinking water' comment
The Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's statement came just a day after his Cabinet colleague Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan had raised questions about its potability. In his statement, he had mentioned that the government had checked water samples from around 20 locations in the national capital, which were better than European standards. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had stated that he was thankful to Shekhawat for his statement. According to reports, his statement came as a boost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the national capital.
