20 Children Injured Due To Electric Shock In Odisha’s Ganjam District

The injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is stated to be stable, a doctor said.

Berhampur: In a tragic incident, at least 20 people including 18 children suffered injuries in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday. 

incident took place when children came in contact with a live electric wire while attending an event, which was organised for inauguration of a temple at Phasiguda village under jurisdiction of Digapahandi police station.

injured children were immediately rushed to Digapahandi hospital and four of m were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur as ir condition worsened.

" incident took place at Phasiguda village while children, aged between 8 and 13 years, were playing on stage amid rain after performance, officials said. officials also ded that two ors were also injured when y tried to pull children to safety.  

Berhampur Sub-Collector Dheenat Dastangar said that she has asked officials concerned to inquire into cause of incident. “Action would be taken against persons found guilty,” she said.

Ramesh Chandra Sethi, ditional SP (Berhampur), has said that police will also conduct a separate inquiry into incident.
