Heavy rains in Mumbai for the 4th consecutive day delays trains, disrupts traffic. LIVE updates here

Mumbai woke up to a heavy downpour across the city for the third consecutive day, with the intermittent rains causing water logging on the streets and slowdown of trains on Western and Central line.

Aditya Thackeray the president of Shiv Sena youth wing and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's son interacted with the media following the incessant Mumbai rains that brought the city to a halt. 

He said:

"This is an emergency situation right now, this is a situation of climate change. The drains have a certain capacity and the rains we have in Mumbai is exceeding this capacity." 

He further appealed to the media to not make this situation a 'controversy' calling the heavy rainfall a result of 'climate change'

Western Railway:

There's no disruption on Western Railway. Trains are running normally between Churchgate-Virar. The water level has come down on all 4 lines at Nallasopara. Trains are running with some delay due to low visibility in section due to heavy rains and receipt of outstation trains.

Roadways:

Andheri Subway in Mumbai is closed due to flooding in the area

Western railway PRO: Due to heavy winds, the material viz bamboos of ongoing construction work fell on Over Head Equipment at Marine Lines due to which trains have been stopped between Churchgate-Marine Lines. Restoration work in full swing, traffic expected to start in 30 minutes.

Pertaining to heavy rains between Kurla and Sion, fast train line services have been held up. Suburban services running cautiously on Down fast, Up & Down slow lines.

Mumbai woke up to a heavy downpour across the city for the fourth consecutive day, with the intermittent rains causing water logging on the streets and slowdown of trains on Western and Central line.

The capital city has recorded 97% of average rainfall required for the month of June, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) 

Mumbai has reportedly received 63 mm of rainfall within six hours from Sunday 11:30 PM to Monday 5:30 AM.

Crippling normal life, traffic, and heavy water-logging have been reported at Palghar and across the city. Mumbai-Pune train services have also been affected by heavy rains. Railway tracks have submerged between Sion railway station and Matunga railway station following heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra.

According to Skymet, cloud cover is predicted to last, while on and off scattered rains will continue. Mumbai is predicted to get heavy rainfall on the night of July 3.
