India's Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale on Pak denying its airspace to India: It's an unfortunate situation where a country denies overflight to a head of state

Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale briefed media about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule during his trip to US starting from September 21. He also answered question about India considering to go to any international organisation after Pakistan denied India’s request to allow PM Modi’s VVIP flight to use its air for US visit via Germany.

Vijay Gokhale said, “It's an unfortunate situation where a country denies overflight to he of state or he of government of ar country. But it's true when re's a rmal country. We have me our position very clear and I hope Pakistan will realise folly of its actions.” He continued by saying, “ As far as going to any international organisation is concerned, we'll take a look at that. So far re's intention to do so. But if y're in violation of regulations of International Civil Aviation Organisation, re is a possibility we can certainly consider.”

MEA Spokesperson h expressed regret on matter
Shortly after Pakistan h denied India’s request to use its air, Indian Minister of External Affairs on Wednesday h issued a statement on matter. In statement, MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar h expressed regret that Pakistan government denied clearance for PM Modi's VVIP flight for second time in two weeks, which he said is orwise 'granted routinely by any rmal country'. Asking Pakistan to reflect upon its decision to deviate from practice, MEA asked neighbouring country to reconsider its old habit of misinterpreting reasons for taking unilateral action.

"We regret decision of Government of Pakistan to deny overflight clearance for VVIP special flight for a second time in two weeks, which is orwise granted routinely by any rmal country. Pakistan should reflect upon its decision to deviate from well established international practice, as well as reconsider its old habit of misrepresenting reasons for taking unilateral action," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in statement.

Pakistan denies entry in air
As per news ncy ANI, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi h said that y h conveyed to Indian High Commission in Islamab that it will t allow use of its air for PM Modi's flight to Germany on September 21 and return on September 28. He cited current situation of Kashmir as reason for Pakistan's decision. "In light of current situation in Kashmir, India's attitude and atrocities re, we have decided to t allow our air for flight of Indian prime minister," Qureshi said in matter.
