Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka revealed government's plan to 'ban Love Jih at any cost' in state and hit out at Congress leer & ex-CM Siddaramaiah for opposing a ban on alleged practice. Slamming Siddaramaiah for opposing government's proposed legislation, R Ashoka categorically stated that love jih will be banned and those indulging in it will be jailed. After Yogi ityanath's Uttar Presh government enacted 'Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Ordinance, 2020' law, or BJP-ruled states, including Assam, Mhya Presh & Haryana, have anunced plans of enacting similar legislations.

Speaking to reporters in Mandya district's KR Pete on Wednesday, R Ashoka termed love jih as a threat to women in Karnataka and said that Yediyurappa-led govt will ban it at any cost. Taking on ex-CM Siddaramaiah, BJP leer said that re was longer a Congress government in place in state and that BJP was certain of passing legislation to ban love jih. R Ashoka also alleged that Siddaramaiah's remarks opposing love jih were done so to appease mirities and draw votes from m and that such statements caused divides between two religions.

'Who is Siddaramaiah? Is he running government?'
"Siddaramaiah is passing such statements for sake of votes, vote politics and mirity votes. It is creating a tussle between religions. Karnataka government will ban love jih at any cost. Whoever does love jih wlll be jailed and will be sent to Parappa Aghrahara", R Ashoka said, speaking to reporters.
"Who is Siddaramaiah to say law won't be passed? Is he running government? It is t his government anymore. Both at Centre and at state it is BJP in power. BJP has decided today that those who practice love jih will be punished strictly and will be jailed", Ashoka said, slamming senior Congress leer. Siddaramaiah h earlier opposed government's move to ban love jih and h said that he wouldn't allow legislation to be tabled in Assembly.

What is 'Love Jih'?
As per some organizations, 'love jih' refers to inter-religious marris where woman converts to Islam eir by force or guile in order to marry a Muslim man. In 2010, n Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan h accused PFI and some or organizations of planning to turn state into a Muslim-majority state by doling out money. Earlier this year, MoS Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy informed Parliament that 'love jih' is t defined under current laws. Moreover, he stated that case of 'love jih' has been reported by any of Central ncies.
