Behold as the visual spectacle of Cirque du Soleil takes you by surprise. For the uninitiated ones, Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company. Its theatrical, character-driven approach and the absence of performing animals helped define Cirque du Soleil as the contemporary circus that it remains today. This art form has finally made its debut in India starting from Mumbai.

Originally composed of 20 street performers in 1984, Cirque du Soleil completely reinvented circus arts and went on to create a new form of entertainment focused on human performance, without animals. The shows take traditional circus arts to a whole new level, mixing state-of-the-art costumes, captivating music and astonishing staging which results in a complete and powerful theatrical experience. BAZZAR, Cirque du Soleil’s 43rd production, will be led by their maestro while the artists of BAZZAR, band together to invent a whimsical one-of-a-kind universe. In a place where the unexpected is expected, the colourful group reimagines, rebuilds and reinvents vibrant scenes in an artistic, acrobatic game of order and disorder.

Ace-choreographer Shiamak Davar, who is well familiar with this art form in an exclusive interaction with Republic TV said he first witnessed the magic unfold during a popular awards function in Macau. "My team and I, during the IIFA in Macau had enjoyed seeing ZAIA. Besides seeing the show ZAIA, I remember watching a few productions in Canada too. I also have great memories working on the show called INDIA in Germany where I got the opportunity to work with Franco Dragone and Brian Bruke," he shared.

Talking about Cirque du Soleil's debut in India, he said, "For me, each time I see the show live or also any videos, I and the team get totally enthralled! In India, it is going to be a rage as people who have travelled globally are aware of the huge tent set-up, theatrical style with their extraordinary gymnastics and its circus where all have a great memory to last a lifetime."

As the demand for Indian market amplifies in the West, Republic TV got in touch with the spokesperson of Cirque Darren Michael Charles, to shed light on what made them think of India as a potential platform. "India was always a potential market for us and with BAZZAR, it was just the perfect opportunity. We want to explore markets that have never been exposed to Cirque du Soleil yet, in its most authentic manner, under the usual Big Top. As we establish our brand, we needed a nimbler format, which led to creating a custom show that would introduce the core DNA of Cirque, where the Indian culture helps us thrive the hidden talents we have," he said. Although busy with their craft, the team wishes to explore the Indian culture. "The country is amazing by its colourful esthetics and it has a very sophisticated entertainment culture. I believe BAZZAR team will learn a lot from it during our time here," he added.

Here's how you can watch this visual spectacle:

BAZZAR will have its World Premiere in India in Mumbai on November 14, 2018, and in New Delhi on December 24 to run all the way up to January 2019 before heading to other countries.
